Who We Are
The Coconut Grove Village Council is an elected body consisting of eight representatives. The Village Council holds monthly meetings on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Frankie Rolle building (3750 South Dixie Highway), and serves as a forum for the residents and businesses of Coconut Grove to raise issues of concern to them, to discuss proposed projects and events, and to bring these issues to the attention of the relevant City and County Officials.
We encourage all Coconut Grove residents to attend our meetings and to bring the issues that concern you to our attention.
Coconut Grove Village Council Members
Dr. Callahan has earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Miami, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) Majoring in Health Care Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) in Leadership and Adult Education from Barry University.
As a nurse for over 39 years, Dr. Callahan has practiced in New York, Illinois, California, and in Florida. Kate presently serves as Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the International Women’s Forum, is the Citizen’s Advocate for the Quality and Safety Committee of the Public Health Trust (PHT), she serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Camillus Health Concern and as a member of the Board Directors of Camillus House. Kate is also a member of the Health Care Ethics Committee of the Health Council of South Florida, Inc., and Chairs the Miami-Dade College Advisory Committee of the Institute for Ethics in Health Care. She also serves on the University of Miami’s School of Nursing and Health Science’s Nursing Advisory Council and she Chaired the Capital Campaign for the Schools’ new building completed in 2006. In 2009 Kate was elected to a seat on the Coconut Grove Village Council and was recently was a candidate for the City of Miami Commission seat in District two.
